Practical, hands-on sessions in nature

Off Grid Community SCIO delivers inclusive outdoor learning and wellbeing sessions that support confidence, life skills and connection with others. Our work is rooted in Forest School principles, bushcraft and food growing, with every session adapted to meet the needs of the people taking part.

Some sessions are open to the public, while others are delivered in partnership with schools or community organisations

Forest school & bushcraft

SUITABLE FOR

Our Forest School and bushcraft sessions provide structured yet flexible opportunities to explore woodland environments safely and creatively.

Participants develop practical skills such as fire lighting, shelter building, safe tool use and woodland crafts. Sessions are designed to encourage confidence, resilience and sensory regulation, with a strong emphasis on choice, exploration and learning through doing.

These sessions are particularly supportive for neurodivergent participants, offering calm routines, clear boundaries and space to engage at a comfortable pace

Food growing skills

From seed to plate, our food growing sessions support participants to connect with nature, food and each other.

Activities include planting, harvesting, composting and outdoor cooking. By working together in the garden, participants build teamwork, independence and a positive relationship with healthy food and the natural environment.
Food growing sessions also provide opportunities for
conversation, shared meals and reflection, helping to
strengthen confidence and social connection

SUITABLE FOR

Wellbeing in nature

These sessions prioritise mental wellbeing, sensory comfort and social connection, using nature as a grounding and restorative environment. Activities are low-pressure and adaptable, allowing participants to engage through movement, observation or quiet participation.

Wellbeing in Nature sessions are especially valued by Autistic and ADHD individuals and their families.
