Inclusive outdoor experiences

Off Grid Community SCIO supports individuals, families and groups who benefit from inclusive, nature-based learning and wellbeing activities. Our sessions are designed for people who may find traditional indoor, classroom or group settings challenging, and who thrive in calm, outdoor environments.

We work with participants across a wide range of ages and needs, always taking time to understand what will help each person feel comfortable, confident and supported.

Neurodivergent: children, young people, adults

Many of our sessions are specifically designed to support neurodivergent people, including Autistic and ADHD children, teenagers and adults.

Our outdoor settings provide space for movement, sensory regulation and exploration, with clear routines and flexible participation. Activities are adapted to individual needs, allowing people to engage in ways that feel right for them, whether that’s actively taking part or simply spending time in nature.

We prioritise understanding, communication and choice, helping participants build confidence, independence and social connection at their own pace

Families seeking inclusive outdoor activities

We support families who are looking for inclusive, sensory-friendly outdoor experiences they can enjoy together.

Our sessions offer opportunities for shared learning, play and time outdoors in supportive, non-judgemental environments. Families often tell us they value the chance to relax, connect and feel understood, while their children gain confidence and practical skills.

Schools and community groups

We work in partnership with schools, charities and community organisations to deliver specialist outdoor learning and wellbeing sessions.

These programmes are tailored to meet specific needs and outcomes, such as supporting communication, emotional regulation, teamwork or confidence. Sessions may take place on school grounds, in woodland settings or community gardens, depending on the project.

Our collaborative approach ensures that each programme is meaningful, accessible and aligned with the needs of the group

Volunteers and community members

We welcome volunteers who want to learn new skills, spend time outdoors and give back to their community.

Volunteering with Off Grid Community SCIO offers opportunities to support sessions, help with food growing projects and contribute to maintaining our outdoor spaces. Volunteers are supported to learn at their own pace and become part of a welcoming, inclusive community.

Growing confidence, connection and wellbeing

Time spent outdoors supports more than practical skills. Participants often experience increased confidence, improved wellbeing and a stronger sense of connection – to nature, to others and to themselves.

By offering inclusive outdoor experiences, Off Grid Community SCIO helps individuals and families grow in ways that extend far beyond the woods or garden.
